Lenten Seminar sponsored by St. George Serbian Orthodox Church and St. Petka Circle of the Serbian Sisters in Lorain, OH
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Ps 119:105) says the longest psalm in the Bible. The worship of the church during the Holy Week is unique and calls for continual prayer and a lasting relationship with God. Above all, these services call for a change from darkness into light, from limitation into joy. To change, a person must bring an open worshipping heart and a resolution that light will be his/her new path.
Resurrection brings a new creation, an opportunity to leave the sinful life behind us and live in the light.
The whole, complete man that is a product of living out the Ps 119, or the masterpiece made in the Image and Likeness of God, is being taught by the Old Testament readings that the darkness will be overcome with light and that death will be conquered with life in Christ.
